(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Billy Edward Burkybile, 82, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Carthage, Missouri. Billy was born on October 24, 1943, to Joe Lee and Cecil Layvetta (Ball) Burkybile in Quapaw, Oklahoma. He graduated with the “Class of 1961” from Quapaw High School. Billy retired from Van Tran after 22 years of service. He was a member of The Potters House Church in Dallas, Texas.
Billy was united in marriage to Gloria Darlene Qualls on December 1, 1974, at the First Baptist Church in Carthage, Missouri. He and Gloria were very involved in the Intersession Prayer Group at The Potters House; she survives.
Billy is survived by his wife; daughter, Tiffany Sourjohn of Miami, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tianna, Tyler, Toby, and Trevor; great grandchildren, Chase, Thomas, Dakota, Jaylee, Audi, Meeka, Rexley, Jazzlynne, Aubriella, and Jacelynn; and two brothers, Phil Burkybile of Galena, Kansas, and Joe Lee Burkybile of Joplin, Missouri.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Cecil; three brothers, Charles, Robert, and Tommy Burkybile; and a sister, Layvetta Lambeth.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to his graveside service at Ulmer Funeral Home.
