BJ Farrell

(From Parker Mortuary)

Billy J. "BJ" Farrell, a cherished father, brother, and soon-to-be grandfather, passed away after an extended illness on February 25, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 55. Born on August 23, 1970, in New Orleans, Louisiana, BJ was a man known for his humor, handiness, and selfless nature.

BJ grew up in a loving home with his mother, Linda Yates-Farrell, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1988, where he formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for his future endeavors.

BJ's work ethic was evident in his long career as an over-the-road truck driver, with the last 14 years dedicated to driving a fuel truck for Flying J - Pilot Truck Stops. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his community, as he previously served as a volunteer firefighter for the Carterville Volunteer Fire Department.

Those who knew BJ will remember him for his quick wit and ability to bring laughter to any room. He was the kind of person who could fix anything, and he was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. BJ's selflessness extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of many in his community.

BJ's legacy lives on through his beloved son, Brandon Farrell and girlfriend, Skylynnda Forcum, of Joplin, MO. He was a guiding light in their lives and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first grandchild. BJ also held a special place in his heart for his former wife, Misty Kinman of Carterville, MO, and his stepchildren, Kaylee Kinman of Joplin, MO, and Cameron Danley of Carterville, MO. His brother, Stephen Farrell of Miami, OK, will fondly remember BJ for the brotherly love and adventures they shared.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
