(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Keith Jackson, age 78, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Wednesday February 18, 2026 at Freeman Health System after suffering a massive stroke.
He was born in Joplin, Missouri to Beulah and Lewis Jackson. He was raised in the Redings Mill area.
At the age of 17 he felt the call to preach. After graduating from high school and MSSU he attended Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary and received a Master of Divinity. He pastored churches in Indiana, Kansas, and Missouri. He then felt the call to become a hospital chaplain where he served 11 years at Oak Hill/ Freeman East and 4 years at St. John’s/Mercy. He then left the hospital setting to become the first business/industrial chaplain in the area under the umbrella of Spring River Baptist Association. He continued that ministry until the day he died. He wanted nothing more but for people to come to know Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, two step-sons, Erik Hare and Wes Hare (Jodie), three grandchildren, Treavor Hare, Nicholas Hare, and Hannah Walker (Jerry), and two great-grandchildren he loved to talk about, Alivia and Oliver, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins that have a lot of stories they could tell.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Treva Comer and Jeannine DeWeese.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday February 21, 2026 at Forest Park Baptist Church with Brian Jump officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery south of Joplin, Missouri. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to The Solace House of the Ozarks and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
