(From Parker Mortuary)Lisa Carol Jacobson-Zajac, age 64, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Aspire Senior Living Joplin.
Lisa was born on July 30, 1961 in Joplin, MO to the union of Joseph and Sylvia (Long) Jacobson. After graduating from Sarcoxie High School, she enlisted into the United States Air Force. She served her country faithfully working as an Education Development Supervisor before retiring in 2001 with 20+ years of service. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Maryland and later obtained her Master’s Degree in Human Resources from Abilene Christian University.
On April 3, 1993, Lisa's heart found its counterpart when she married the love of her life, Walter “Sonny” Zajac, Jr. Together they enjoyed playing tennis, jogging, hiking, watching movies and recently going to concerts. She said her favorite show was going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Lisa was an avid reader and you could often find her sitting on the porch enjoying the fresh air. She leaves behind her loyal companion, Dogzilla.
In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia Goodwin; and one sister, Sharon Boswell.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Walter Zajac, Jr.; two children, Holly De Asis (Tim) and Marc Zajac; two grandchildren, Daniel Zajac and Nathaniel Zajac; one great-grandson, Levi; three siblings, Linda Reeder (Tom), Terry Filarski (Terry) and Joseph Jacobson; and brother-in-law, Clark Boswell.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
