Ruth E. Lawson, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 12:45 AM Wednesday September 16, 2015 at Mercy Hospital.
Ruth was born February 6, 1925 on the family farm between Blackwell and Caldwell, Kansas to the late Adolph and Pearl Adams-Vavra. She lived in Kansas, Missouri, Washington State, Florida, and California before moving to Joplin in the early 1990's to live closer to her family.
She was first and foremost a mother and homemaker, and a good friend to those she knew. Ruth also worked as a receptionist/secretary for a law firm in Hutchenson, Kansas, made payroll for the University of Washington Hospital Nursing Services, was an instructor at an exercise salon, and a food demo "girl" for Sam's Club. She most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. No one was a stranger who's path she touched. She enjoying travel throughout the US, cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska. Always one to find joy in God's hand on earth she enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching birds, all aspects of nature, and perhaps most of all she enjoyed growing, receiving and arranging flowers. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Park Plaza Christian Church.
Ruth is survived by her children Linda Moehring, John Moehring, and Jay Lawson. Grandchildren Leah Fountain, William Prigmore, Heather Smith, Hunter Moehring, and great-grandchildren Chance Keyrsen Smith, Presley and Michael Prigmore, Mason Fountain, and an extended family.
Ruth was a loving child of our Saviour. She had the gift of enjoying life with a sense of humour. She was always able to see the good in others, and passed on the abundant blessings she enjoyed in life to her children, family, friends, and so many others.
A memorial service for Ruth will be held at Park Plaza Christian Church on Saturday, November 7th. at 2 PM.
