Andrea Schroer

Mrs. Andrea Schroer, 69 of Joplin, Missouri, left this life to be with God on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, in comfort with her husband, son, and daughter at her side.

Andrea began life on December 16, 1947, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, as the middle child of Frank King and Mercia Werdon. She continued to live in Hamilton until she was 9 years old. At this time her family moved from Hamilton to live in Hacienda Heights, California. She graduated from Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights in 1966. Andrea married Robert L. Schroer on July 10, 1971 in St. John Vieney Church in Hacienda Heights. After the marriage they moved to Joplin, Missouri for a short time and the next year they moved to Independence, Missouri, where both of their children were born. Years later they made their home in Joplin again. In California, she worked for Weyerhaeuser Paper and later as a teacher’s aide. Back in Joplin, she worked for Commerce Bank and for a long period of time, Oxford Health Care, as an in-home aid to the elderly. Andrea had a heart for serving and she achieved 1,000 volunteer hours at the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop. She loved being with her family and friends. Andrea also spent considerable time gardening with flowering plants. She received special enjoyment from her Yorkies. Andrea was a lifelong Catholic and enjoyed the strength of her faith and the multiple blessings she received. She especially enjoyed traveling to Savannah, Georgia, to see her daughter and spend time in the city.

Andrea is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Robert L. Schroer, of the home; two children, Robert F. Schroer of Joplin, Missouri, and Monette Ryan and husband, Francis, of Savannah, Georgia; siblings, Jeffrey King of Monrovia, California, and Marlene Vachion of Covina, California; as well as host of family and friends.

Funeral Mass for Mrs. Schroer is at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
