Roy Nick Myers, 76, of Liberal, MO died March 10, 2017 in the Circle of Life Hospice Home, Springdale, AR. He was born February 27, 1941 in Pittsburg, KS, the son of Lon and Irene (Billionis) Myers. He graduated from Pittsburg High School, class of 1959.
Roy enlisted in the US Air Force after graduation and served as an Airman, Second Class from 1959 until being honorably discharged in 1963. During most of his Air Force career, he was an electronics technician on B-52 bombers. After his 4 years in the Air Force, he had careers in Insurance and as a Realtor. Most of his life was spent in the Springdale Arkansas area as a maintenance engineer for large manufacturing and processing plants. In 2006, he moved back to Pittsburg and worked for Superior Industries as a maintenance technician on large equipment. After that company closed, he attended WTI in Joplin, Missouri and graduated in November, 2010 in computer technology and network administration. Upon retirement, he moved to Liberal, Missouri until he went to stay with his children due to ill health. Roy enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, growing grapes and cooking. He loved to watch old westerns and cooking shows as well as researching many subjects online as he was always interested in learning.
He is survived by son, Nick Myers and daughter, Whitney Taylor and husband Brandon of Springdale, AR; daughters, Hope Pruitt and Nicola (Nikki) Rice and husband, Jonathan of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Zachary Taylor and Jaylee and Brimleigh Myers of Springdale, AR; Shelby Sizemore, Tulsa, OK; James Pruitt, Haden and Raven Crowe and Ethan Rice, all of Broken Arrow, OK. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Roy T and Mildred Myers and Nick and Edna Billionis all of Pittsburg.
A combined funeral service will be held for Roy and his Mother, Irene Myers on Tuesday March 14, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 816 E Quincy St, Pittsburg with Rev. Jim Sukraw and Rev. C. L. Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to The Nazarene Church or Shriners Transportation Fund left at the church or sent to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E 4th St. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
