Max D. Jones, 88, Carthage, MO, passed away early Sunday morning, March 5, 2017 at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, MO. Max Donald Jones was born August 18, 1928 in Carthage, MO to the late Osa D. Jones and Ella L. (Horstman) Jones. He graduated from Carthage High School, Class of 1946. Max served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a ticket agent for Greyhound Bus and retired after 31 years. Max was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carthage, the National Rifle Association, and a life member at the Carthage VFW Post 2590. He helped with meals on wheels for 24 years.
Survivors include two nephews, David Kraemer, Liberty, MO, and Michael Kraemer, Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Helen Nadine Kraemer.
Visitation will be held 1:30-2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. Minister Thad Beeler will officiate. Memorial gifts are suggested to First Baptist Church, Carthage, or Gideons International in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836.
