Russ Beck

Russell E. 'Russ' Beck, age 57, Carl Junction, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home after an illness.

Russ was born July 18, 1959 in Joplin to the late Earl Beck and Mildred Peters Beck and was a lifetime area resident.

A mechanic and welder his entire life, Russ had worked at Modine; owned and operated Hiatt-Beck Welding Company for eleven years; five years at Howard Johnson's; Missouri Metal; Snyder Bridge for three years and the past eight years with Crossland Construction.

Russ loved the outdoors. When not at work, he enjoyed the quiet of the country feeding his animals; hunting and fishing. He loved sporting events and looked forward to watching his family members play. He was a long time member of Byers Avenue United Methodist Church; Camino and KMA.

He married Deborah Richardson on October 7, 1978 in Joplin. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include his children, Travis Beck and wife, Jamie, Carl Junction, Tyler Beck and wife, Rebecca, Carl Junction, Taylor Beck and husband, Stetson, Carl Junction; three sisters, Sherry Block and husband, Walter, Carthage, Stephanie Denham, Carl Junction, Diane Berry, Carl Junction; grandchildren, Grace, Connor, Owen, Elise and Miles; mother and father-in-law, Kay and Lawrence Richardson, Carl Junction; sisters-in-law, Kathy Cowley and husband, Rick, Carl Junction, Carol Hatfield and husband, Ronnie, Carl Junction; brother-in-law, David Richardson and wife, Jeanne, Carl Junction; and several other extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by a niece, Kara Richardson and a brother-in-law, Dean Denham.

Services are planned for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Byers Avenue United Methodist Church. Rev. Gerald Powley and Max Raney will officiate. Interment will follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Schneider, Andrew Jiles, Brian Block, Marty Block, Josh Denham, Trent Cowley, Klayton Richardson and Lucas Hatfield. Honorary pallbearer will be Ethan Hatfield, who is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Byers Avenue United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Byers Avenue United Methodist Church, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
