Mabel Johnson

Mabel J. Johnson, age 87, of Webb City passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital. 

She was born on December 15, 1929 in Webb City to Isaac Wood and Maude (Wasson) Wood. Mabel was a Baptist and retired from Webb City School District where she was head cook at Webster Elementary. 

Mabel married William F. Johnson on June 11, 1947 in Columbus, Kansas and he preceded her in death on October 11, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Heulah Bottom Eutsler, Mary Ellen Bronyish, Betty Edwards, Mildred Champ, Roy Wood, and Don Wood. Mabel is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnson of Webb City; son, Mike Johnson of Webb City; grandchildren, Lana Lee Maynard and husband David of Oronogo, Amanda Jo Tiberghien and husband David of Joplin, Jenna Johnson Cue and husband Aaron of Joplin, Bettina DeBerry of Webb City; great grandchildren, Davey Maynard, Jr., Lynnzie Lee Maynard, Dixie Dee Maynard, Zoey Lee Tiberghien, Gage William Tiberghien, Cydney Taylor De Berry, and Jordan Dallas DeBerry; and also numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. 

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Ozark Cemetery in Joplin with Reverend Ron Woody officiating. The family will be present for a visitation on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Webb City High School Band Boosters in care of the funeral home.
