Mabel Rohlfing

Mabel Louise Seger Williman Rohlfing, age 100, Joplin, passed away at 7:37 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Mercy Hospital.

Mabel was born December 9, 1916 in Hermann, Missouri to the late George J. Seger and Louisa Ebker Seger.

She lived in the Kansas City area and Berger, Missouri most of her life. She moved to Joplin three years ago at the age of 97 from Independence, Missouri. Mabel farmed alongside of her husband and had worked in production at the Russell Stover Candy Factory in Kansas City and the former cap factory in Berger, Missouri. She had also worked as a cook at Forum Cafeteria in Kansas City for a short time. Mabel was active with her church and was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Kansas City and Senate Grove Church in Berger.

Her husband, Harold A. Williman, preceded her in death in April of 1963. She then married Ervin Rohlfing. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1995.

Mabel was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Salzer; a brother, Roy Seger and a sister, Edna Schiele.

Survivors include a daughter, Fran Farley and her husband, Glen, Joplin; a stepson, Wayne Rohlfing, Berger, Missouri; two step daughters, Cindy and Karen; grandchildren, Chris Salzer, Nick Farley, Sean Farley; and four step grandchildren.

Mabel has been taken for cremation. A family graveside service at St. James Cemetery in Stony Hill, Missouri is being planned for a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
