Kathleen Horton

Kathleen Mae (Williams) Horton, 85, Lamar, MO, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was born October 26, 1931 in Flat Rock, MI to Earl and Nova Levatious (Whisler) Williams. The Williams family moved from Michigan to Lamar, MO in November 1945. She married Bobby Joe Horton on April 27, 1947 in Lamar, MO. They shared 62 years of marriage till Bob's death October 14, 2009. 

Bob and Kathleen managed the Horton's 5 & 10 stores in 4 different locations in Missouri. They purchased Horton's 5 & 10 in Lamar from Bob's father and mother J.D. and Hazel Horton in 1968 and operated there for 26 years until their retirement in 1994.
Kathleen was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing and cooking for her family.

She is survived by a son, Mark Horton Olathe, KS; a daughter, Vickie Bilke (Dave), Joplin, MO; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Horton, Lamar, MO; her twin sister, Noraleen Trout, Oakdale, California; sister, Barbara Robertson, Lamar, MO, one brother, Earl Lyle Williams (Dennie), Blue Springs, MO; five granddaughters, Bobbi Anne Jeffries, Lamar, MO; Kimberly Long (David), Baxter Springs, KS; Amanda Mitchell (Philip), Joplin, MO; Chandra Perry (Lynn), Alvin , TX; Ashley Baugh (Scott), Olathe, KS; 3 grandsons, James Horton (Miranda), Kansas City, KS; Nicholas Horton (Phaedra), Jeffersonville, Indiana; Aaaron Horton, Olathe, KS, seventeen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby Joe, sons, Doyle Horton and Bobby Joe Horton Jr; a daughter Marilyn Ann Horton; 2 daughter-in-laws, Maureen Horton and Brenda Horton; a grandson, Damian Horton; a great granddaughter, Kirsten Jeffries; and 2 brother-in-laws, Darrell Robertson and Bob Trout.
