Bonita Fickle

Bonita Marie Fickle, age 92, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 10:58 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 in Fayetteville, Arkansas after an illness.

Bonita was born August 20, 1924 in Joplin to the late Charles Sour and Mable Nutt Sour and had lived in Joplin most of her life.

She worked in retail and was hired by Sam Walton as one of the first price checkers for Wal-Mart, Inc. Bonita was a former member of Empire Baptist Church, Joplin.

She married Lawrence F. Fickle on November 22, 1941 in Joplin. He preceded her in death.

Bonita was also preceded in death by a son, Frank; daughter, Janice Hoyle; and siblings, Ruth, Mildred, Darrell, Charles, Ina and Len.

Survivors include a son, David Fickle, Saline, Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Fickle, Fayetteville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Graveside services are planned for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Martin will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
