John Elbert Cantrell, 89, of Anderson, MO passes away peacefully on Monday March 6, 2017 at the McDonald County Living Center with his loving wife of 61 years by his side.
John was born in Watts, Oklahoma on May 19, 1927 to the late Andrew Marion and Mary Elizabeth (Winston) Cantrell. John and Oma June were united in marriage on May 10, 1955 in Noel, MO and to this union three children were born. John enlisted in the United States Army on November 30, 1945, and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant before his retirement on May 19, 1987. John worked for many years at the local chicken plant. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing and farming.
John is survived by his loving wife Oma June of the home. Two daughters; Cherita Potarf of Sulphur Springs, AR and Shirley Pittman of McAllister, OK, a son; Jonathan Cantrell of Sulphur Springs, AR, ten grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.
