Patty Ballard

Patricia Ann "Patty" Ballard, age 68, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at her home in Joplin with loved ones at her side.

Patty was born January 12, 1949 in Oronogo, Missouri, daughter of the late Wayne Shofler and Pauline Goodpasture McDermott. She has been a lifetime area resident. In 2002 she married the late Bob Ballard. Together they were involved in the local VFW, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge, and Briarbrook Country Club.

Patricia enjoyed being outdoors, working in her garden, but more than anything she enjoyed loving and caring for her family as a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dean Ballard in 2017, and her first born son, John Earl Hamilton in 1973.

Survivors include her son, James Allen Hamilton of Chico, California; stepson, Bobby Ballard, Jr. of Joplin; three brothers, Jack Shofler of Oronogo, Wayne Shofler and Richard Shofler both of Webb City; five sisters, Debbie Shofler, Karen Crawford, Mary VanFleet, Mary Rogers, Betty Wininger; two grandchildren, Cody Allen Hamilton and Tia Van Benthusen; four great-grandchildren, Erica, Ellie, Addilynn, and Lucus.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery with Rev. Jeff D. Martin officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Elks Lodge Christmas Basket Fund.
