Blaine Montague departed this earthly life Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO, at the age of 55 and confident in God’s promise of a new body. He was born December 4, 1961 in Washington, MO, the only child of Thelma Marie (Horton) Montague and Harry Arthur Montague, Jr.
Blaine grew up in Sullivan, MO, prior to moving to Carthage during elementary school years. He graduated from Carthage Senior High School, class of 1981. Blaine married Kristi McDaniel in 1984; she survives. They were blessed with two sons, Drew Montague and wife Charlotte, and Lucas Montague and wife Rylee. He was very proud of his Mizzou graduates and their Mizzou grad wives.
Blaine spent over thirty years working in the propane industry. He loved his boys, his granddaughter, Jolee Montague, his dog Sadie and baseball; particularly Carthage Little League and the St. Louis Cardinals. He spent many hours coaching Carthage youth and served on the Little League Board of Directors. He was a member of Center Point Christian Church, Carthage.
Blaine was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, his sons and their wives, a granddaughter, his father-in-law, Robert McDaniel, his sisters-in-law, Susan Huffman, Carthage, Roberta Dias, St. Joseph, MO, and Beth McDaniel, Carthage, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6-7 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Knell Mortuary. The family will have a private service at a later date. In Blaine’s memory, the family would ask to play catch with a child, go fishing, or cheer for the Cardinals. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
