Cherry Stillions

Mrs. Cherry R. Stillions, daughter of the late Otis Carmen ‘Pete’ and Bernice (Byler) Brock was born on July 12, 1930 in Anderson, Missouri. She departed this life on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 86 years, following a year long illness.

Cherry was a lifelong resident of McDonald County. She was raised on the family farm located along the river bottom of Indian Creek off of NN Highway. She attended Bunkerhill Grade School and Anderson High School. On August 12, 1947 Calvin (Shorty) Stillions and Cherry were united in marriage. Cherry and Calvin enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. They enjoyed weekend ‘picken and grinen’ with family and friends. To that union two sons, David Stillions and Daniel Stillions and one daughter, Deborah were born. After over 50 years of marriage, Calvin passed on March 7, 2007. Cherry worked at the Anderson Canning Company and owned and operated the Goodman CafĂ©. At the age of 43, Cherry went back to college and received a degree in Nursing. She served as an LPN at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Stella, Sale Memorial Hospital in Neosho and various senior centers around Neosho. Cherry accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior early in her life and was a member of Splitlog Baptist Church. In October, 2008, Cherry married Jack Davis. Jack passed away on October 10, 2011. Jack and Cherry shared a happy and fulfilled life, dancing and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include two children and their spouses, son, David and Penny Stillions, Neosho and daughter, Deborah and Warren Townsend, Goodman; sister-in-law, Shirley Stillions, Carthage; brother, Gayle Brock and wife, Linda, Anderson; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Cherry is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Stillions; husband, Jack Davis; son, Danny Stillions; grandson, William Jacob Townsend; sister, Connie Estes and two brothers, Lonnie Brock and Jerry Brock.

In keeping with Cherry’s wishes, the body has been cremated and the ashes will be interred with her first husband, Calvin at Howard Cemetery in Goodman at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
