Helen Engel

Helen Florine Engel, 94, formerly of Walnut, died at 8:15 P.M., July 6, 2020 at her current residence in Carthage, Missouri.

Helen was born March 4, 1926 at rural Brazilton, a daughter of Adolf and Minnie (Martens) Bennefeld.
She attended Myers Public School near Brazilton. 

Helen married Reinhold E. Engel on June 25, 1950 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hepler. Reinhold preceded her in death on August 8, 2013. 

They were lifelong farmers near Brazilton. 








Helen was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Quilting Club. 

Survivors are her daughters Dianna Keele of Kansas City, Missouri and Nancy Dunaway, and her husband, Frank, of Carthage, Missouri; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
 
Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Alvin, Edward, Ralph, Bill, Henry, and Carl Bennefeld; her sisters Margaret Johnston, Anna Kmiec and a son-in-law, Robert Keele. 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler with Pastor Michael Apsec officiating. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Hepler. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home. 

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church and these may be left at the church or mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard 66743.
