Larry Johnson

Larry Johnson, 75, Neosho, passed away on July 4, 2020, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Larry was born in Clinton, Missouri to Leo and Marcia (Ashley) Johnson. He proudly served in the Army Reserves, 1967-1971. He worked for KAMO Power and retired as the Southwest Missouri Supervisor. 

Larry married Sharon K. (Aldrich) in Nevada, Missouri and to this union, two children were born, Renee and Aaron. He was always involved with Renee and Aaron’s activities, he coached T-Ball and little league teams and initiated the first Band Booster Club and served on the El Dorado R-2 School Board. Larry was always busy and active. Playing fast pitch softball, golf, riding motorcycles, teaching motorcycle safety, volunteering at the Help Center and Newton County Food Basket Brigade. 








Larry and his wife, Sharon enjoyed traveling the backroads of the US on their Goldwing seeing 49 states and nearly all provinces of Canada, making many friends along the way. Larry enjoyed and spent many years researching family genealogy. 

Larry was saved at an early age and as an adult, served the Lord as Deacon, Trustee, Music Leader, Sunday School Director and Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs, Missouri and currently was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Neosho. 

Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon, his daughter, Renee Johnson of Neosho, his son Aaron and wife Teresa (Frey) of Arizona; granddaughter, Kaylin Davis and husband, Nyle; great granddaughter, Ema, who kept him on his toes with laughter and adventures, all of Neosho; his sister, Sheri Proctor and husband, Terry of El Dorado Springs; his best friend, Gary Marshall of Neosho and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Michael and nephew, Benjamin Proctor. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11 am at the First Baptist Church, El Dorado Springs, MO. The family request that family and friends wear masks and observe social distancing protocol.
