Ruby Lea Alexander, 81, of Granby, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Ruby was born February 4, 1939, in Granby, Missouri, to the union of the late Martin and Mabel (Harris) Long. She was a 1956 graduate of Granby High School. On October 4, 1957, Ruby was united in marriage to Carroll Alexander and together they had four children.
Ruby resided in many different states during her lifetime while following her husband’s Navy career. She worked as a homemaker, raising her children, and was always a devoted wife and loving mother. Ruby enjoyed her flower gardens, going to the casinos and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll; two children, Robert Alexander and Carol Hayes; a brother, Carol Long; and a sister, Mary Hoyt.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Alexander of Granby and Cathleen Strickland (Jan Heikuri) of Goodman, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jason, Jeff, Josh, Cami, Tiffany, Shellie, Kassie and Lindsey; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen White, of Goodman; a son-in-law, Jim Hayes, of Monett, Missouri; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
No formal services will be held at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
