Shirley Hyso

Shirley Hyso, age 90, passed away on July 6, 2020 with family by her side following an illness. We have lost a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who loved her family very much.

She was born February 11, 1930 in Stringtown, Missouri. Shirley married the love of her life, Alfred Hyso, on August 21, 1949. Alfred spent 31 years in the Navy and their travels took them throughout the world to many places. They moved to California and back to Joplin in 1985. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1998. She devoted herself to family and friends throughout her lifetime, and joyfully worshipping in her Christian faith.

Shirley enjoyed spending time traveling with Al in their motor home, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family. She was a homemaker who enjoyed fixing meals for the family. 








Survivors include 3 daughters, Venus Young (husband Mark), Cyndi Munsell (husband Jim), Vicki Short (husband Raymond), and four grandchildren, Adam Hall, Scott Grindstaff, Jennifer Ogo, and Clinton Short; great-grandchildren Ben, Noah, Grace, Owen, Orion, and Baby Ray, plus many extended family and friends.

Besides her husband, Alfred, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Wanda, one brother, Richard, and great-grandson Jason Hall.

Graveside committal of ashes will be Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Ft. Scott National Cemetery next to her husband
