Amy Elizabeth Smith age 41 of Joplin, Mo passed away on Thursday November 24, 2016 at her home.
She was born on May 25, 1975 in Joplin, Mo, the daughter of Richard and Nancy “Phipps” Smith. Amy graduated from Joplin High School in 1993. She then earned her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Missouri Southern State College and her Masters in Special Education from William Woods University. She worked as a resident advisor for Lafayette House in Joplin, Mo. Amy drew her strength and purpose from serving others. She was a member of Impact Life Church, served with S.O.S. Ministries, attended bible studies at The Light at Joplin, served as the family historian, loved Jesus, animals, her family, and especially her nieces and nephews.
Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Lee and Mildred Phipps and Gene and Elizabeth Smith, and two step-sisters Tricia Cain Petefish and Sandy Estabrook Petefish. Survivors include her mother Nancy Kloeckener and husband Mark of Joplin, Mo; father Richard Smith and wife Sherry of
Broken Arrow, Ok; two brothers: Scott Smith, and wife Jeanne Ann of Grove, Ok, Jamie Smith and wife Susan of Joplin, Mo; three step-brothers Casey Kloeckener and wife Heaven of Baxter Springs, Ks, Terry L. Templeton of Wichita, Ks, and Steve D. Templeton of Wichita, Ks; two step-sisters: Sarah Gould and husband David of Joplin, Mo, and Diana J. Riffle of Federal Way, Wa; nine nieces and nephews: Cameron and Courtney Smith, Jordan and Faith Collingsworth, Dylan, Shayla and Savannah Gould, and Eric and Kevin Deems.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday November 30, 2016 at the Christ's Community Methodist Church Joplin, Mo. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery Joplin, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary &
Crematory. The family suggests contributions to the Lafeyette House in care of the mortuary. Arrangements entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory
