Richard Rinehart, 86, Wichita, KS, former Neosho resident, died Oct. 24, 2016 in Topeka, Kansas.
Richard was born March 19, 1930 at Camp Crowder, the son of Rollo V. and Montie G. (Leach) Rinehart. Richard served in the U.S. Navy, 1948-1950. He moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1950, where he raised his family. He had worked at Boeing as a tooling inspector and had owned and operated a mobile home park. He enjoyed flying his own airplane in the 1950’s. He played guitar and sang in country western bands for many years and music continued to be his passion and he entertained at retirement homes and attended weekend jams. He was a member of St. Canera Catholic Church.
Richard married his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Katherine Gilmore on October 30, 1948 in Neosho and she preceded him in death on May 23, 2006 after 57 years of marriage. Richard is survived by five children, Gary Rinehart and wife, Betty of Topeka, KS; Kathy Duft and husband, Bob of Colbert, WA; Teresa Poynter and husband, Jim of Wichita, KS; Janet Morgan and husband, Dennis of Whibey Island, WA and Terry Rinehart and wife, Katherine of Broomfield, CO; three sisters, Jerry Malcom and Mary Fry of Neosho and Patsy Fowler of Nevada, MO; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Fleeta Gilmore.
