Jerry Burgess

Jerry Lee Burgess, age 76, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital.

Jerry was born January 15, 1940 in Joplin, son of the late Arch and Emma Holt Burgess. He attended Joplin Schools, and then served in the United States Army. He worked all his life in construction as an independent contractor. He built several homes in the Joplin area, and also did some commercial construction. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Micky Dean Burgess; and sisters, Dorothy Shaddy, Martha Bryan, and Mary Roper.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janice Boswell Burgess; son, Jody Burgess and wife Tina of Joplin; daughters, Michelle Sims and husband Herman of Carl Junction, Vicky Parks of Centennial, Colorado; grandchildren, Kyle Burgess and wife Kyndra, Kraig Burgess and wife Ashlie, Kayla Burgess, Brittany Schulte, Aubrey Darrow and husband Darrell, Caleb Daniels, Tristian Triplett, Dillon Triplett, Sydnee Triplett, Madisyn Sims, Jenny David, Aaron David, Zachary David, Alyssa Sheers and husband Andy; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Burgess and wife Janet of Neosho.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
