Norma Ruth Mitchell, age 89 of Carl Junction, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Wildwood Ranch, following a short illness.
Norma was born November 14, 1926 in Wideman, Arkansas to the late Jacob Petis Stone and Geneva Cooper. She worked in sales with Montgomery Ward Department Store and Zale's Jewelry and was a dedicated homemaker. Norma was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church.
On April 27, 1943, Norma married Robert Edward Mitchell in Diamond, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2008. She was also preceded by siblings, Harold Stone, Opal Grimett, Beatrice Sprinkle, Veral Stone, Dean Stone and infant siblings, Betty Faye and Johnny Dale.
Surviving Norma are sons, Robert 'Gene' Mitchell and wife, Jane of Webb City, Michael Mitchell and wife, Linda of Nixa, Missouri, Stephen Mitchell and wife, Doris of Asbury; grandchildren, Michael Mitchell and wife, Jill of Bradenton, Florida, Kelly McGinnis and husband, Scott of Clever, Missouri, Danette Conley and husband, Shane of Carl Junction, Colby Mitchell and wife, Candice of Carterville, Travis McCorkle and wife Alicia, and Brandy Channel, both of Carl Junction; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her best friend, Jean Shireman and extended family, Dwayne and Patsy Phillips and children Tammy, Kim and wife Stacy.
Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary with Rev. Phillip McClendon, officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Pallbearers will be Shane Conley, Dwayne Phillips, Colby Mitchell, Mike Mitchell, Scott McGinnis and Kim Phillips.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
