Carol I. Kerr, age 78, Joplin, passed away at 11:12 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her home after an illness.
Carol was born June 28, 1938 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the late Jess Hodge and Daisy Vader Hodge and had lived in the area all of her life.
She worked at the American Red Cross for 22 years, 17 of which as the executive director, retiring in 2001. Carol was a graduate of Baxter Springs High School in 1956 and was a member of the 56 Gals Lunch Group. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Baxter Springs.
Carol married James Kerr, Sr. on March 18, 1967 in Joplin. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include her children, Kathy Kerr, Louann Karleskint, Grove, Oklahoma, James Kerr, Jr., Carthage, Mary Jo Loverton, Huntsville, Illinois, Carla Kerr and Darla Kerr, both of Carl Junction; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a son, Charles Cole.
Memorial services are planned for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Rev. Jeff Street and James Kerr, Sr. will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
