Nancy J. Platt, 91, Carthage, MO, passed away Saturday morning, November 26, 2016 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch, Joplin, MO. Nancy Jane Givens was born August 19, 1925 in Carthage, MO to the late Thadeaus R. Givens and Alice (Agnew) Givens. She graduated from Carthage High School, Class of 1943. She then attended two years of college at Missouri Valley. Nancy married Thomas Warren Platt on September 21, 1946 in Carthage, MO; he preceded her in death on July 20, 2004. She was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Platt, Carthage, MO, and Kathy Platt, Tollesboro, KY; four grandchildren, Dustin Irwin, Jenni Cully, Kelly Bauer, and Thomas Ogden; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one grandson, Christopher Bauer.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. Fr. Steve Wilson will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service at the Grace Church Columbarium. Memorial gifts are suggested to Girl Scouts of America or Grace Episcopal Church in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
