Mary Lorane Wilson, age 75, Joplin, passed away at 8:26 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at her home after a sudden illness.
Mary was born April 27, 1941 in Delta, Colorado to the late Lionel H. Sweeten and Bonnie P. Nation Sweeten and had lived in the area since 1995, moving from Phoenix, Arizona.
Mary worked as a private duty nurse for most of her working life. A gifted seamstress, she sewed most all of her own clothing and made numerous hand crafted pieces for other people. She was a faithful member of Central Christian Center, Joplin.
Mary married Franklin W. Wilson on March 21, 1989 in Tollisen, Arizona. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica; a granddaughter, Ashley Wilson; three brothers, Haskell, Dewayne and Johnny Sweeten; and four sisters, Virginia and Wanda Sweeten, Phyllis Morgan and Hattie Distefano.
Survivors include a son, Guy Wilson, Joplin; two daughters, Deadrah 'Dee' Wilson, Oronogo, Valerie Wilson and fiancé, Charles Goodwin, Oronogo; a sister, Bonnie Ottinger and husband, Bill, Henrietta, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Curtis Wilson and fiancé, Alisha Cox, Brent Wilson and wife, Caitlyn, Anthony Wilson and wife, Tammy, James Wilson and fiancé, Destiny McBride; six great grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Services are planned for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Dr. Hank Deslatte and Rev. Doug Wilkerson will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
