Daniel James Lybarger, age 79 of Webb City, Mo., passed away Friday, October 20, 2018 at Joplin Gardens following an illness.
Daniel was born on June 4, 1939 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Rodney and Ileen (Cook) Lybarger. In 1958 Daniel was enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country honorably. He was united in marriage to Vickie Young on July 3, 1960 in Fort Dodge. Daniel moved to the Joplin area in 1966. He began his firefighting career in Webb City for eight years and then retired as an Engineer for the Joplin Fire Department retiring in 1997 after 20 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and scuba diving and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Lybarger, of Webb City; one son, Matthew Grant Lybarger, and his wife, April, of Joplin; one daughter, Lisa Victoria Bock, and her husband, Dirk, of Webb City, of Joplin, Mo; one brother, Aaron Lybarger; two sisters, Margaret Oberlinkner of Carthage, and Rachel Engle and her husband Vern of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Daniel was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Ileen Lybarger and his parents and one brother, Melvin Lybarger.
Memorial services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 1, 2018 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel. Chaplin Tim Sumners will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
