Virginia Melton

Mrs. Virginia Faye Melton, age 85, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018.

Virginia was born June 7, 1933 in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Harold and Dovie Fithian. She was a 1950 graduate of Joplin High School. On April 13, 1952 Virginia was united in marriage to Darrel “Gene” Melton and to this union four children were born. She was a member of Empire Baptist Church in Joplin.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kevin Melton; and two brothers, Bob and Don Fithian.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Gene Melton; children, Kristy Verbryck and husband, Carey, Kenny Melton and wife, Polly, and Kelley Melton and wife, Lesley; daughter-in-law, Pam Melton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Harold Fithian; sister-in-law, Barbara Fithian; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Memorial services are pending at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Empire Baptist Church, 2330 Empire, in Joplin.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
