Floyd Prock

Floyd L. Prock, Jr., age 95, Joplin, passed away at 11:28 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital.

Floyd was born June 9, 1923 in Osceola, Missouri to the late Floyd Prock, Sr. and Edna Mae Wilkerson Prock and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.

He worked at Hamm Chevrolet in Aurora, R&S Chevrolet (29 years as parts manager) and Schumacher-Blum Chevrolet in Carthage. Floyd then worked for the Joplin R-VIII School District at Cecil Floyd Elementary as day engineer, and upon retirement he worked at various Joplin R-VIII schools as well as the administration building as a substitute engineer and/or custodian.

Floyd was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. He served tours in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines Mountains, Po Valley, Southern France, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. Floyd was awarded with several medals and citations, including the WWII Greek Commemorative Medal, the Presidential Citation with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with ten Battle Stars.

He married Henrietta Musgrave on February 19, 1948 in Aurora. She preceded him in death on August 29, 2016.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Prock, Estero, Florida.

Services are planned for Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Russell Willoughby will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from Noon until service time at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Hunters Hope Foundation, in care of Parker Mortuary.
