Roy Riley Stone, age 81, Joplin, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital.
Riley was born February 22, 1937 in Joplin, son of the late James Wesley Stone, Sr. and Virginia Elizabeth Hardin Stone. He worked as a butcher all his life, working for several grocery stores in the Joplin area, and spent many years with Southtown Meat before retiring. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James, Jr., and a sister, Sally Loree Stone.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Landers; sister, Nancy Morrow of Joplin; niece, Leighann Long and husband Rodney of Joplin, and great-niece, Rachel Sill and husband James, also of Joplin.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Services will be held at a later date, and his ashes will be placed in Forest Park Cemetery with his mother.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Oxford Home Care for all their loving care over the last few months.
