Mary Lou Renfro Day, age 87, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Freeman West after a sudden illness.
Mary was born September 19, 1931 in Joplin, daughter of the late Riley Renfro and Elizabeth "Bessie" McMahan Renfro. Mary graduated from Joplin High School, and married Basil Eugene "Gene" Day on May 1, 1952. The couple lived in Joplin all their lives, and raised two sons, Danny and Robert. She was a member of South Joplin Christian Church. She enjoyed working in her garden, and was an avid doll collector.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Day, who died September 11, 2013, two sisters, Helen Farrar, Delores L. Howard, and a brother, Floyd Renfro.
Survivors include her sons, Danny Allen Day and wife Teresa, and Robert Eugene Day all of Seneca, Missouri; grandchildren, Cecilia Ann Durden, Tadd Allen Day, Danner Day, and Channen Reed; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Trey, Jace, and Braden.
Graveside services will be Monday, December 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jeff D. Martin officiating.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.
