Judy Ann Bicknell, 71, a devoted wife, mother, and "Nanny", passed away at her home in Pittsburg on Sunday, November 25, 2018.
She was born August 26, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, where she lived until she was fourteen years old, then moved with her family to McCune, Kansas. She graduated from McCune High School in 1965.
In June 1965, she was united in marriage to Jerry McGown. They later divorced. On May 6, 1976, she was united in marriage to Ray Bicknell in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives at the family home.
Judy worked for Foodtown, Edward Jones Investments, and the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, Judy was a “professional junker” shopping for antiques. She also had a passion for cars. She loved drawing, was an avid decorator, enjoyed making stained glass and pottery projects. She was also a past member of the Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband, Ray, she is survived by three sons, Sheldon Bicknell and his wife, Jamie of Arma, Kansas, Scott Bicknell of Joplin, Missouri, and Wade McGown and his wife, Michele of Oceanside, California; a sister, Glenda Best and her husband, John of Pittsburg; four grandchildren, Shandra Mondragon and her husband, Chris, Jordan Bicknell and his wife, Sadie, Bayne McGown and Johannah McGown; and one great-grandson, Thomas Ray Bicknell. She was also blessed with three bonus daughters, Cara Kubler and husband Greg, Kim Harland and husband Marc, and Karin Nielsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Oscar Harrell, and a brother, Dr. Charles Bayne Harrell.
A Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday (Dec. 4), at the Brenner Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs City Cemetery in Baxter Springs, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of her granddaughter, Johannah "JoJo" McGown, can be made to the Down Syndrome Association of San Diego at 9245 Sky Park Court, Suite 130, San Diego, CA 92123, www.dsasdonline.org, or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
