Jay Frank King, Galena, MO, son of Pat and Sula (Smith) King, was born on June 11, 1926 in Cape Fair, MO and departed this life on December 15, 2019, at the age of 93.
Jay served his country in the US Navy serving from 1944 to 1946. On October 1, 1946 Jay married Mary Eleanor Keck in Columbus, KS. He worked in the Eagle Pitcher lead mines, drilled water wells, worked for the newspaper office, was a guide on the river and was a master carpenter. Jay went to work for the US Corps of Engineers in 1965 retiring in 1986. He loved fishing and hunting and was a big Cardinals and Chiefs fan.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Sula King; wife, Mary King; brother, Ed King; granddaughter, Lori McDaniel; son in law, Ruel McDaniel; daughter in law, Diane King and two very special cousins that were like sisters, Delores Gailey and Phylliss Kelly.
Survivors include: five children, Patty McDaniel of Highlandville, MO, Jay Frank “Corky” King, Jr. of Nixa, MO, Susan Greenway and her husband, Lonnie of Galena, MO, Janice Gordon and her husband, Ralph of Galena, MO and Eddie King and his wife, Debra of Neosho, MO; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019 in Stumpff Funeral Chapel, Crane, MO. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Jimmy Greenway officiating. Burial will be in Old Carney Cemetery, Jenkins, MO under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home, Crane, MO.
