Jim Hodson

James Thomas “Jim” Hodson, age 70, Carthage, Missouri, passed away early Sunday morning, December 8, 2019 at his home with family by his side.

Jim was born February 13, 1949 in Carthage to the late Oliver Thomas “Tom” Hodson and Wanda Louise (Martin) Hodson. He was a 1967 graduate of Carthage High School. Jim married Linda Jones on June 17, 1968 in Joplin, Missouri. 

Jim was owner/operator of Jim’s Bar in Carthage and also worked for the Carthage Underground Storage for 25 years. He attended Grace Episcopal Church of Carthage and later attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Carthage. He loved his dogs, but most of all, loved his family and friends.








Survivors include his wife, Linda; three daughters, Heidi Gilligan (husband John), Carthage, Holly Hodson, Carthage, and Jamie Raney, Pella, Iowa; six grandchildren, Anthony Parks, Taylor Lewis, Tygran Gilligan, Westen Vonier, Tobias Gilligan, and Isabella Gilligan; one sister, Johnna Collins (husband Mike), Carthage; one brother-in-law, Ted Jones (wife Helen), Wichita, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews; many extended family and friends, and his dog, Joker.

Memorial graveside services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage. The family suggests contributions to the Carthage Humane Society or St Ann’s Catholic School in care of the Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
