Ruth Beard

Ruth Cox Beard was born October 8, 1937 in Berryville, Arkansas to Booker and Charles (Collier) Cox. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18, 2019 in Neosho, following an extended illness at the age of 82.

Ruth graduated from Blue Eye High School in 1955, attended Southwest Baptist College until 1957 and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1959 with a degree in education. She taught second grade in the Blue Eye, Missouri schools for 25 years.  

In 1997, she moved to Neosho from Blue Eye. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, traveling with her husband, Jim and participating in her grandchildren's activities. She was the leader of the TOPS group for fourteen years and was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church and was church pianist. 

Ruth and Jim Beard were married on June 25, 1960 at the Blue Eye Baptist Church and he survives. 

Additional survivors include two children, Dr. Kenton Beard (Racheal) of Neosho and Kerry Lynn McManus (Jody) of Springfield, Missouri and three grandchildren, Mattie Beard, Reid Beard and Raegan Stites. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Booker Cox, Jr.
