Mrs. Susie Ann Long, 77, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Susie entered this life on December 30, 1941, in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of the late Benjamin and Nola (Young) Garber. She was raised in Alba and Purcell, Missouri and was a 1959 graduate of Alba High School. Throughout her life she worked as a housekeeper and caregiver to the elderly. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Benjamin Bates, Sr. and Floyd Long; a sister, Ruby Warren; and two brothers, Floyd and Elmer Garber.
Susie is survived by her five children, Benjamin Bates, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri, Jeffery Bates, Jennifer Waterman, and Kevin Bates all of Joplin and Mark Bates of the state of California; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Mattie Boyd of Joplin; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Memorial services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Duenweg Assembly of God, 7380 E. 20th Street, Joplin, Mo 64801, with Pastor Bobby Cooper officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
