Lillian “Margaret” Richardson, age 99.87, of Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, December 23, 2019.
Margaret was born in Oklahoma on February 9, 1920, the daughter of Lang and Lola Heavin. Margaret was united in marriage to Floyd L. Richardson on March 26, 1939 in Baxter Springs. They were married for 64 years until his passing in 2003.
Margaret was a faithful member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Baxter Springs. She and her husband, Floyd, worked in the Apostolic Faith Youth Camp for many years, attended Little League baseball games, and delighted in the chili dogs from the concession stand at the ball field. She enjoyed tending to her huge garden, crocheting doilies, and playing dominoes. She was also known for her loving hospitality as she hosted large wiener roasts for friends and family.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; one daughter, Dorothy Turner; one son, James Richardson; two sisters, Lucille Starrett and Betty Lou Stanley; and two brothers, Leonard Heavin and John Heavin.
Survivors include a daughter, Bev Karber, and husband, Joel, of Joplin, MO; a sister, Rose Eagleson, of Nevada, MO; a sister-in-law, Amy Heavin, of Warrensburg, MO; a son-in-law, Gene Turner, of Overland Park, KS; a daughter-in-law, Sandi Richardson, of Bloomfield, NM; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 28, at Greenlawn Cemetery, rural Columbus, KS. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Apostolic Faith Church, Apostolic Faith Bible College, or the Wayne Metcalf (Little League) Field, in care of the funeral home.
