Patsy Sampson

Mrs. Patsy Louise Sampson, 93, of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life on Friday morning, July 10, 2020, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, Missouri.

Patsy entered this life on November 7, 1926, in Carterville, Missouri, one of six daughters born to the late John and Reathel (Miller) Fields. She was raised in Carterville and was a 1944 graduate of Carterville High School. 

On October 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to Rheuben Sampson and to this union a son and daughter were born. She worked at Grandpa’s Discount Store and later retired from Midcon Cables in 1990. For over thirty years, Patsy volunteered for Mercy Hospice. Rummage sales and grandkids filled her time after retirement. She attended North Main Street Baptist Church. 








She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rheuben Sampson on April 7, 1974; and four sisters, Midge Strubbe, Genny McFarland, Doris Hunt and Jackie Pope.

Patsy is survived by her two children, Ron Sampson and wife, Mary, of Webb City, Missouri and Wilmetta Sue Madison also of Webb City; six grandchildren, Kristi Collins and husband, Darryl, Heather Sampson, Tracy Tune, Dustin Sampson and wife, Ila, Eric Tune and Dennel Crabtree and husband, Rick; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Baker of Joplin; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Webb City Cemetery with Pastor Walter Hammond officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Dustin Sampson, Eric Tune, Lynn Bragg, Rheuben Crabtree, Adamm Crabtree and Darryl Collins. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home. Memorials are being directed to the American Diabetes Association c/o the funeral home.
