Marcella McCracken

Marcella Virginia McCracken, 93, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Joplin Health and Rehab.

Marcella was born on the family farm on March 18, 1927, in Kennett, Missouri, to the union of the late Hersel and Grace (Yarbro) Stanfill. She graduated from Senath High School.

In 1970, Marcella was united in marriage to Billy Gene McCracken and he preceded her in death in 1987. She owned and operated Park Cedar Court in Hot Springs, Arkansas, a popular vacation spot, and worked as the property manager for nearly a decade. Upon their return to Joplin, they continued their involvement in real estate, purchasing and flipping houses.








In her earlier years, Marcella enjoyed playing the piano, singing at church, teaching Sunday School and hosting family gatherings. Marcella was a past resident at College View Manor, a senior community she loved and thrived in, and while there she enjoyed dancing, reading and playing games. She loved her family and she will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marcella was preceded in death by her brother, Boyd Stanfill.

Survivors include her daughters, Candy Gagle of Joplin and Roxanne Lee Webb of Riverside, Missouri; one grandson, Brandon Lee Peoples, of Riverside; and three great-grandchildren, Nyomi Jade Peoples, Kimora Joy Peoples and Tevin Sewer, all of Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with Pastor Doug Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joplin Area Catholic Schools.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
