Clyde Morrison

Clyde Walter Morrison, Jr. age 93, of Joplin, passed away January 11, 2022, at home with his family at his bedside. He was born in West Plains, Missouri, on November 7, 1928, he was the only child of Clyde Walter Morrison and Cecil B (Jones) Morrison of West Plains, MO.

Clyde came to Joplin, in 1935. He graduated from Joplin Public Schools, Pittsburg State University and George Washington University in DC. Clyde was a Korean War veteran in the US Army. He married Barbara J. Ward of Joplin in June of 1956 and they have two children.








Clyde was a CPA and after returning from the war he was employed at Thomas Cusack Company. He was a member of the national and regional AICPA. He served as a CPA to many area business and industries.

Clyde and Lloyd Ditto purchased Norman Electronics and the Electronic Center in Downtown Joplin in 1977. He was active in civic affairs and a member of the Joplin City Council, Police and Fireman’s Pension Board, Joplin Chamber of Commerce, President of the Downtown Lions Club, and a member of the MSSC Lionbackers. He was a real estate developer in both Joplin and Beaver Lake. He coached his kids athletic teams for many years.

Clyde and Barbara were avid world travelers. They traveled to most countries in Europe as well as the Middle East, Japan, Hong Kong, Russia and Mexico.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Ward) Morrison, their two children: Scott K. Morrison, of Joplin and Kelly S. Morrison, of Virginia, cousins Linda Kay Hailey and Tom Hailey (Pat), Brother-in-law Jim Ward (Judy) and many cousins, niece, and nephews, Alicia (Ward) Doten, of CA, Gregg Ward, Brian Ward, Gary Ward, Terry Ward all of Joplin.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother Belle (Marshall) Morrison and his dear Aunt Gladys Hailey and Uncle Jack Hailey.
