Wanetta King

Wanetta Gertrude King, age 87, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Wanetta was born December 26, 1934 in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of the late George William Toops and Gertrude (Shelton) Toops. Wanetta had the best job ever, that of being a homemaker.

Wanetta married David Warren King on June 29, 1991 in Spring City, Missouri. Together they shared 30 precious years before her passing.








Wanetta enjoyed reading, puzzles, spending time with her cats and tending to her plants. She loved the outdoors and the peacefulness it brought. But above all Wanetta loved her family. She cherished the memories created and time spent with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Wanetta was also preceded in death by two husbands; Don Allen and Herman Simpson; son, Mark Simpson; sisters, Cora Kope, Ruth Halliday, Leatha Tibergein, Alice Marley and Betty Stogsdill.

Wanetta is lovingly survived by her husband, David King; children, Donald Allen, Mickale Allen and wife, Pam, Perry Simpson, Shell Simpson and wife, Donna; step-children, Connie King-Kesler, Johnny King; grandchildren, Mickale Allen, Maggie Johnson, Melody Warkentin, Jonathon Simpson, Amber Simpson-Beck and husband, TJ, Jake Simpson and wife, Breana, Keith Simpson and wife, Kammie, Preston Wilson and wife, Jo Guess, Alicia Wilson and husband, Deric Miller; great grandchildren, Joshua, Kaidan, Zebby, Grayson, Carter Joe, Barryn, Rayne, Kerra, Shane, Isis and Alphonse; together with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

The family will hold private services for Wanetta.

Cremation Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
