(From McQueen Funeral Home)Billy Mac Cooper, son of Lester and Willadean McQueen Cooper was born November 22, 1946 in Wheaton, Missouri and departed this life April 2, 2023 at his home in Wheaton, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 10 days.
On May 27, 1978, he was united in marriage to Ruth Smith. Together they raised two daughters. Ruth passed away August 27, 2016. Also preceding him in death were his parents and stepbrothers, Ralph Sheets and Carl Sturgeon.
Billy grew up in the Joplin and Wheaton, Missouri areas. After graduation he owned and operated several businesses in Wheaton working until ill health forced him to retire. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Baptist Church and later became a member of Body of Christ in Wheaton where he served as a deacon. His love and sacrifice for God was always first in his life, he was truly a Godly Man.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Gomez of Exeter, Missouri, Mary Shipman and her husband Chris of Sedalia, Missouri; one sister, Joy Tichenor and her husband Ed of Abilene, Texas; one stepsister, Nancy Mussat of Summerville, South Carolina; six grandchildren, two nieces and his special caregiver for the past four years, Peggy Miller and other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, April 6, 2023 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Gene Robinson and Pastor Dan Goostree will conduct the services. Burial will be at Muncie Chapel Cemetery in Wheaton.
A public viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
