Dorothy Burrow

(From Ulmer Funeral Home)

Dorothy was born July 23,1926 in La Russell, Missouri, to Suzanne and Howard Cox. She accepted the Lord at a young age.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Carl Burrow on July 15, 1946. They had two children, Linda and Carlene, both of whom are deceased. They resided in Carthage, Missouri and in Border, Texas, where Carl was called to preach.

During that time she loved singing hymns on the streets with a group of her lady friends. From there Carl and Dorothy were called as missionaries to the Navajo Indians in Gallup, New Mexico. She loved sharing the Lord with the Navajo Indians and she would play the piano and accordion at the mission for singing hymns together.

Carl and Dorothy moved back to Carthage, Missouri in 1969, where they served the Lord in nursing homes, and Carl would fill in as interim pastor at different churches around the Carthage area, and Dorothy would play piano or teach Sunday school.

When Carl passed away in 2006, Dorothy went to live with her daughter, Linda and her husband, Mitch, in Ozark, Missouri. Dorothy moved up to Des Moines, Iowa in May of 2022 to be closer to granddaughter and great grandchildren.

Everywhere she went she had a smile and a love for everyone she came in contact with. Dorothy passed away on April 3, 2023, peacefully entering into heaven to meet her loving Savior. Dorothy’s heart for her entire life was to share the Gospel of Jesus so all could know about His love and salvation.

Dorothy had three great grandchildren: Gabriel Wessel, Ethan Olson, and Cora Olson whom she loved and called precious. She had three grandchildren: Twyla Burgess (deceased), Michael Wessel, Amanda Olson (Philip Olson) whom all adored and looked up to her and how she lived her life for Christ. Mitchell Wessel, son-in-law, cared for Dorothy with his wife Linda for 17 years in their home. After Linda passed, Mitchell continued to care for Dorothy until her passing. She considered Mitch the best son-in-law she could have ever asked for. She will be greatly missed, but know she is perfect with Jesus and reunited with all her loved ones.

There will be a graveside service held for Dorothy at the Red Oak Cemetery off of Highway 96 on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00 PM.

Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
