(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Edna Mae Spillman, age 93, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Solace House in Joplin, Missouri. She was born March 18, 1930, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of James Leo and Velma Lucy (Sifferman) Keatts.
Edna was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. Her and her husband Bob were the owners / operators of B&E Decorating in Mt. Vernon. She worked at the snack bar for the Mt. Vernon School District. She loved gardening, cooking, and attending Gospel Music Festivals. Edna was a member of the Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church.
On May 6, 1977, she married Robert Dean “Bob” Spillman, in Hoberg, Missouri. He preceded her in death June 17, 2005.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Elaine Fordham and her husband, Dennis, of Talala, Oklahoma; four sons, Stephen Curl and his wife, Sherry, Mark Curl and his wife, Janet, Danny Curl and his partner, Michelle Murray, all of Mt. Vernon and Darrell Curl and his wife, Karen, of Winston Salem, North Carolina; one stepdaughter, Sherry Dunker of Clear Lake, Texas; one stepson, Bruce Spillman of Woodstock, California; three sisters, Patricia Falk of Omaha, Nebraska, Pauline Tyree of Palmview, Texas and Dorothy Adriano, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Curl, of Wentworth, Missouri; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, James and Velma; husband, Bob; son, David Curl; sister, Luella Niccum and her husband, Verlie; three brothers, James Keatts and his wife, Willie Dale, Herbert Keatts and Raymond Keatts and his wife, Jeanette; three brothers-in-law, Bob Falk, Max Tyree and Rex Snodgrass; two stepsons, Terry Spillman and Greg Spillman and his wife, Sherri.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Rock Prairie Cemetery in Halltown, Missouri.
