Oliver Harp

Mr. Oliver Bristow Harp, 88, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday morning, April 5, 2023, in the comfort of his home, after months of declining health.

Oliver entered this life on January 28, 1935, in Carthage, Missouri, son of the late Leroy and Bonnie (Bristow) Harp. He was raised in the Fidelity community and was a 1953, graduate of Carthage High School.






 

Following high school, he enlisted and served his country in the United States Army. On August 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Joyce Thrasher and to this union three sons were born. Shortly after they married, Joyce and he purchased a farm in Anderson. Oliver worked on his dairy farm while raising his family. 

After retiring from farm life, Oliver worked at Simmons for several years in the parts department and maintenance, retiring in 2017 at the age of eighty-three. He enjoyed tending to the needs of his farm, working on old tractors, traveling and attending RV shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steve and Roger Harp; a grandson, Dustin Harp; a sister, Betty Nell Harp; a brother, John E. Harp; and an infant brother, Roger Harp.

Oliver is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Joyce Harp of the home; a son, Kenneth Harp and wife, Janet, of Anderson; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Harp and wife, Dorothy, of Diamond, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Elaina Harp of Anderson; as well as a host of other family and friends.








Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson with Arlis Thrasher officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Benjamin Harp, Ethan Harp, Donovan Parsons, Randy Chandler, Bill Thomas and Andrew Franks. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
