(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Shirley Anne Palmer, age 93, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Saturday April 8, 2023, following a long- fulfilled life.
Shirley was born on September 19, 1929, in Carthage, MO, the daughter of the late Oden and Hazel (Kyle) Lewis. She has been a lifetime area resident. She married Richard “Dick” Palmer in 1947 and together they were blessed with six children. She was a devoted Christian and loved her gospel music.
Shirley had a wonderful sense of fashion, she always looked like she walked right out of a fashion magazine. She was a very hard worker. She was proud to tell everyone that she worked until she was age eighty-eight. She put her love of fashion to work in retail sales for Kassab’s, Clark’s, Newman’s, Famous Barr, and several others. She moved to Branson for a few years and worked for the Andy Williams Music Theatre. She retired from Mystique Boutique in 2018. She enjoyed camping, gardening, flowers, flea markets and all types of music. She was a past member of the Eastern Star.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Dick Palmer in 1972; and a daughter, Robyn Palmer in 2002.
She is survived by one son, Link Palmer and wife Paula, Arma, KS; two daughters, Jody James and husband Rick, Carl Junction, MO, and Dixie Hardy and husband Randy, Joplin; a grandson, Josh James, Carl Junction, MO; and eight other grandchildren along with several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Hackney Cemetery, in Carthage, MO. Randy Wilson, Minister, will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday 4:00 pm -8:00 pm at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
