Carol Bingham

(From Parker Mortuary)

Carol Jane Bingham, age 76, of Joplin, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Carol was born on August 9, 1947 in Joplin, MO, to the union of Eldon and Leona (Wheelan) Bingham. She was a lifetime resident of the Joplin area and graduated from Joplin Senior High in 1965. She loved staying in touch with her classmates and organizing class reunions.

She was an avid collector of Hallmark ornaments, which she enjoyed decorating Christmas trees, easter baskets, and other holidays with. She loved collecting frogs, which stood for “fully relying on God” and giving them out to everyone she could. She also collected Precious Moments dolls for many years. She enjoyed bowling earlier in life. She was also an avid shoe collector.

She was a survivor of the 2011 Joplin Tornado and even though she may have owned a few too many shoes, those shoes are what ironically saved her life by adding an extra layer of cushion as debris began to fall on top of her. Shortly after the tornado, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and after battling for a few years, she was able to beat cancer. Carol worked for Mighty Mikes Jigs, tying jigs for just a few short years. She then went on to work for Eagle Picher for over 40 years in the accounting department.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Leona Bingham.

Carol is survived by her brother, Dale Bingham and wife, Ginger; one niece, Becky Boothe and husband, Jeremy; one nephew, Danny Bingham and wife, Karri; six great-nieces and great-nephews, Chade, Becca, Baylee, Torie, Jonathan, and Sam; and a host of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to the American Cancer Society.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Wildwood Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Lew Poe officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
