Mike Bridges

Mike Bridges was born in Claremore, OK, on December 17, 1943, to Morgan Bennett Bridges and Helen Louise Bridges. He was the oldest of three children. His father was in the service at the time of his birth. His grandmother Harrison helped his mother Louise during that time. The family was transferred often because his father was in the retail business. They eventually settled in Austin, TX, in the 60's. 

Mike graduated from McCallum High School and joined the Army for six years and became a sharpshooter. He had many friends that shared his love of vintage cars, Harleys, and Cushmans. Mike moved to Odessa, TX, in the early 70's to be closer to his family. He opened McCord Pump & Supply in 1980 and was a successful businessman. His business has been open for 45 years and is still running. He had a very strong and honest work ethic which is why he was so successful. 

Mike is survived by the love of his life for 30 years, Loretta Cates; his sister, Linda Gosnell of Carthage, MO; and niece, Kelly Gosnell of Midland, TX. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and younger sister, Christie Bridges. 

Mike had a very generous and kind heart. He was always willing to help others in need. He also had a soft spot in his heart for stray cats and dogs. He always made sure they did not go hungry. He will be greatly missed. 

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or charity of your choice in Mike's memory. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November, 14, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Pastor Clydel Chapman will be officiating.
